Five human heads found in Mangu Local Government community leader’s house
Security men yesterday recovered five human heads from the residence of a community leader in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State generating concern among residents of the area.
The human heads were recovered after a search of the premises by a combined team of soldiers and policemen who stormed Mangun village around 10.30 am following a tip off, according to sources.
The security men who reportedly came from Abuja arrived in the village in about five Hilux vans and immediately cordoned off the premises of the community leader popularly called Ardo and began a search which yielded the recovery of the human heads hidden in the ceiling.
Eyewitnesses added that some arms and ammunition were also recovered from the premises. The community leader was said to have been taken away with the human heads and the arms found.
Chairman, Management Committee of the local government, Mr. Ifa Shikben confirmed the findings and the arrest of the Ardo but could not give details saying he merely stumbled on the scene.
According to him, he was returning from an armed robbery scene when he ran into the raid on the Ardo’s residence.
Meanwhile, more corpses have been reportedly discovered in Wase Local Government Area following Wednesday’s sectarian crisis even as the state government expressed concern over the outbreak of fresh hostilities in some parts of the state.
Sources from the local government said about five bodies were recovered yesterday as the hostilities between natives and pastoralists worsened.
Condemning the resurgence of violence in Wase, Jos South and Barkin Ladi local government areas, the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Yiljap Abraham said in a statement that they “appear deliberately aimed at plunging the state into larger and perpetual conflict.”
He urged the people to remain calm assuring that government had initiated steps to douse tension and avoid a spread of the violence.
