ANOTHER BLACK SUNDAY: JAJI CHURCH EXPLOSION

ANOTHER BLACK SUNDAY: JAJI CHURCH EXPLOSION

At least 5 people have been confirmed dead from the explosion at the Protestant Church at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College suicide bomb attack this afternoon. A source at the Military Hospital told Daily Trust that he has seen 5 corpses brought in so far as well as many injured from the blasts.

He also said some of the cases brought in may be beyond the capacity of the hospital to treat and they may have to be referred to the 44 Army Reference Hospital or the ABU Teaching Hospital, Shika.

He said a good number of those affected by the blast were members of the church's choir as the congregation had already begun to disperse when the attack happened.

Authorities at the Cantonment have sealed off all entry and exit routes into the barracks as well as blocking all traffic on the Zaria to Kaduna lane of the express way in front of the cantonment.

Eyewitness said a smaller bomb was initially detonated causing a scare before a suicide bomber drove a bomb-laden car into the church.
