The Winner of "American Idol" Is Philip Philips!

After much anticipation and a record setting 132 million votes from viewers, Phillip Phillips was finally announced the season 11 winner of “American Idol.”

On Wednesday night’s (May 23) finale episode, both of Phillips and Jessica Sanchez took the "Idol" stage one last time before finally finding out who took home the coveted title.

As the sexy 21-year-old superstar heard his name he couldn’t help but be completely shocked as he was handed his trophy by last year’s winner Scotty McCreery.

Before taking the stage for rehearsals, the soulful rocker took to his Twitter page expressing his excitement writing, “Gonna be such a fun night tonight! Rehearsing now #fb.”

Making for a crowd pleasing event Rihanna along with legendary band Aerosmith also took the stage for a memorable performance that Ryan Seacrest said he had been “waiting two years” for.

Other stars in attendance included former “American Idol” winner Carrie Underwood and her hubby Mike Fisher along with former contestant Jordin Sparks.

Jason Derulo was also on hand for the final night along with “Glee” star, Jane Lynch.
