Fire outbreak at Delta Govt House

AT about 10 p.m. on Sunday night, there was a fire outbreak at the Press Centre building of the Government House, Asaba, Delta State.

According to a statement, security officials on duty promptly alerted other personnel who called the State Fire Service. The Fire Service came and brought the fire under control preventing it from razing the entire building.

The office of the Chief Press Secretary and the adjoining office occupied by the supporting staff were mainly affected by the fire.

The Deputy Governor, Prof. Amos Utuama; Chief of Staff, Dr. Festus Okubor; Permanent Secretary, Government House and Protocol, Mr. Tony Obuh and the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba, were on ground in the night to ensure that the fire was brought under control.

Investigations are on to ascertain the cause of the fire and the extent of damage
