Mrs Amosan Nimonta alleged human trafficker was arrested with 8 victims

Mrs Amosan Nimonta alleged human trafficker was arrested with 8 victims
Ogun State  Command of Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, yesterday, said  it had intercepted an alleged human trafficker identified as  Mrs Amosan Nimonta, who was reportedly  trafficking eight Nigerians .
She was reportedly arrested last Saturday about 3am at Ajanlekoko, Idiroko border in Ipokia Local Government Area of  the state.
The Command’s Comptroller, Mr Greene Anik’Nweze, who spoke  in Abeokuta  gave the victims ages as between 20 and 29, while that of the suspected trafficker was put at 33.
Anik’Nweze said: “The unauthorised border leads to Benin Republic and the suspect claimed that she was taking  the victims to Agadex in Niger Republic to work as maids in her restaurant. ”
He said items recovered were nine fake Nigerian passports, charms and luggage, adding that security measures introduced by NIS on the new passports had made it difficult for forgery.
He further  hinted that the victims and suspect would be handed over to National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Person (NAPTIP), for rehabilitation and prosecution respectively.
He said “this trend is very strange to the South West and I am passionately appealing to parents to be very careful who they give their children and wards to.
“Traffickers will surely destroy lives of our children, so parents must not sell or give out their children for any amount as doing so is a sin against God and humanity”.
Meantime, Ogun  state Police Command also said yesterday that it had rescued a teenager (name withheld) from  a six-man-gang of kidnappers who demanded N50 million ransom from the teenager’s parents before her release.
The incident according to the police Commissioner, Okoye Ikemefuna occured  at Agbado Area of the state on Monday and was reported to the Agbado division after the kidnap took place.
Vanguard gathered from the parents who pleaded anonymity  that  their daughter was kidnapped shortly after he asked  her  to check what was wrong with the generator with  the kidnappers taking advantage.
He said “I was surprise when the generator went off because there was fuel in it; as soon as my daughter came out they put gun on her head and brought her inside.
“They requested for money and I told them I don’t have any but they went away with my Daughter and Infniti Jeep and they later called on Tuesday Morning to demand a ransom of N50 million.
“I don’t know where to find that amount and I really thank God that the police came to the rescue of our family.
“ Nigerians need to learn and know about this new trick of the men of the underworld, “he said.
Also speaking with journalists, the teenager described her experience in the hands of kidnappers as terrible, adding that “ I was just blindfolded and taken to a forest.
