Eyewitnesses say the crash happened at the local wing of the Murtala Mohammed airport, close to the section where JET-A1, plane fuel is stored. The aircraft is said to have crashed as it took off.
At the scene, fire service officials were seen evacuating the occupants of the plane and are yet to determine the extent of casualty.
Indications however suggest that none of the 20 passengers on-board survived the incident.
Yakubu Datti, the spokesman of the Nigeria aviation agencies, has asked for more time to get concrete details of the accident. Unconfirmed reports also state that ex head of state's Olusegun Obasanjo's son, top PDP dignitaries were those aboard plane.
