14 injured and 1 feared dead as building explodes in Luhansk , UKRAINE



1 person was killed and 14 were hospitalized on Sunday, August 11 after gas explosion in an apartment building in Luhansk.

According to the spokesperson of the prosecutor’s in Luhansk Olga Dyachenko, the explosion occurred at around 1 p.m. in the apartment on the 6th floor of building number 4 on Shevchenko street in central part of the city.

The blast damaged several apartments below. 14 residents were hospitalized, 3 of them children. One child is reportedly in critical condition.

Emergency services have evacuated 60 residents of the building and are carrying our a rescue operation. According to the preliminary investigation, the explosion was caused by a broken water heater.
