Boston suspect
Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, also known as Boston bombings suspect #2, is still on the loose after gunning down an MIT campus police officer and wounding a Boston officer early Friday. Dzhokhar’s brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, referred to by the FBI as suspect #1, was killed in the gunfight last night.
Dzhokhar’s father reportedly urged his son to turn himself in. The grieving man who already lost one son, said “all hell would break loose” if Dzhokhar is killed by police.
Earlier today, heavily armed SWAT officers surrounded an apartment building in the quiet community of Watertown, Cambridge, where they believed Dzhokhar was holed up. Officers went door-to-door evacuating residents.
The brothers, originally from the Russian region of Chechnya, were ID’d as suspects just hours after President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama departed Boston after attending an interfaith prayer service for the families of the victims of Monday’s Boston Marathon bombings.
“Everyone of us has been touched by the attack on your beloved city,” Obama said during the service. “For millions of us, what happened in Boston Monday is personal.” Speaking directly to the victims who lost their limbs during the twin explosions, Obama said, “You will run again.”
