Flood takes over Lokoja-Abuja highway

Flood takes over Lokoja-Abuja highway

The flood currently ravaging some parts of Kogi  assumed a frightening dimension on Thursday evening when a part of the Lokoja-Abuja highway was overtaken by  flood water.
Mr Isaac Martins, the head of operation of Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Kogi Sector of Command, confirmed that the section of the road at Banda village was flooded.
Martins said on telephone that FRSC officials had been dispatched to the spot to control traffic.
He said the flood had slowed down vehicular movement but added that the commission was in control of the situation.
Apart from the Abuja-Lokoja highway, other major roads affected were  Ganaja and Ajaokuta roads.
Vehicles going to the southern part of the country had difficulties going through the road to Ajaokuta and Okene from the North.
The flood submerged some transformers and other PHCN installations in Lokoja and Ajaokuta, thereby throwing the two towns into darkness.  (NAN)
