57 Year Old Grandpa, Aderemi Alli bags First Class Degree in Law from University of Ibadan

A 57 year old grandfather, Aderemi Alli has bagged a first class degree in Law from the University of Ibadan, Oyo state. He was among the 21 first class graduates produced by the institution at its convocation ceremony held today in Ibadan.

Alli who had his first degree in Economics Education 31 years ago and has his last child studying Electrical Engineering in the same University was not deterred by criticisms regarding his age. He was among the three first class graduates produced by the institution’s Faculty of Law.

At the convocation ceremony, he told journalists that he was motivated to study law because many of his schoolmates had become Senior Advocates of Nigeria. “I feel I can still participate in the society in spite of my age,” he said. “I am using this medium to advise others that they can do it, if I can do it.”

The university graduated a total of 1,582 students for the 2011/2012 academic session with 243 graduating in Second Class (Upper Division) and 920, Second Class (Lower Division). A total of 135 of the students graduated with Third Class and 203 with Pass.

“I am using this medium to advise others that they can do it, if I can do it“…  Such inspiring words.  A first class degree in Law from a premium University must have been no mean feat. Congratulations Sir! I pray you achieve all that you have set out for in all you endeavours. With your resilience, you have shown that there is no age limit to dreaming, setting goals and achieving success.
