Prostitutes beat up policemen in Akure during sanitation
Uneasy calm pervaded Lao area of Akure metropolis yesterday, as prostitutes and their clients beat the security operatives attached to the Environmental Task Force monitoring the monthly environmental sanitation exercise.

Beaten black and blue, the security officials had their uniforms torn into shreds and sustained various degrees of injury during the attack

The Task Force led by the Commissioner for the Environment, Chief Sola Ebiseeni, had set out as early as 8 am to ensure strict compliance with the monthly environmental exercise.

While on visit of some towns and villages, some people were arrested for violating the environmental laws. Trouble, however, started when the team got to Inner Circle Hotel at Oke padi, off Lao street in Akure, and met the prostitutes with their clients. They were said to be drinking and dancing when the Task Force took a swoop on them. In the ensuing encounter, some Civil Defence officials and one other security personnel were beaten mercilessly, as the prostitutes resisted their arrest.

A female Civil Defence officer had her uniform torn into shreds by the irate women of easy virtue.

When it was obvious that the prostitutes and their clients had overpowered the team, they put a distress call to the police and SSS headquarters for reinforcement. It took the intervention of additional security men comprising of mobile policemen, State Security Service official and Civil Defence before the security men could be rescued in the hands of their attackers.

When the Commissioner for Environment got to the scene, he ordered the hotel premises to be sealed off. Ebiseeni who was feasibly angered with the prostitutes’ action, asked the prostitutes and their clients to be arrested and taken to police station for interrogation. He said the offenders aside from facing environmental court would also be prosecuted for assault on government’s officials.

Briefing reporters at the end of this month’s edition of the environmental exercise, Ebiseeni said 22 persons caught violating environmental law were arrested and taken to court immediately.

He warned that government would take over any uncompleted building that is constituting nuisance to the public as from Monday.

Nigerian Billionaire Mike Adenuga Already Preparing For Death, Pays N200 MILLION For Burial Location

Nigerian Billionaire Mike Adenuga Already Preparing For Death, Pays N200 MILLION For Burial Location

A recent update has revealed that Nigerian Billionaire, Mike Adenuga has spent a whooping N200 Million for a burial site.
The burial site, which is located at Vaults and Garden, an ultra modern cemetery in Ikoyi, Lagos is now final resting place of the rich and affluent.

According to reports, to get an average space in the cemetery would cost about N750, 000 and above. But if you would rather live an even more affluent life after death, N40 Million would get you some of the executive spots.
Report has it that even the super-rich have their own corner. Adenuga's recently deceased sister had one of these to herself. The Globacom boss paid N200 Million to secure a space for his sister. Her next door neighbor in this exclusive section is Gboyega, son of another super rich man, Otunba Adekunle Ojora and his fashionable wife, Ojuolape. Gbegi, like he was popularly known, was born in 1960 and died in 2011.
Right next to him is one of the founders of GT Bank, Tayo Aderinokun. His final resting place is not only very wondrously decorated, but also boasts of his two giant photographs, smiling on those that are still living. We were informed that Before the trio, however, is that of a true man of God, like it is dubbed inside the cemetery – the final resting place of former Redeemed Christian Church of God minister, Pastor Eskor Mfon. Born in 1953, he died in 2007

Tonto Dikeh risks 15-year jail term

Tonto Dikeh risks 15-year jail term

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on Friday said controversial Nigerian actress, Tonto Dikeh, risks a minimum of 15 years in jail for encouraging the consumption of hemp.

Dikeh had on Friday posted photographs of a wrap of hemp and grains of the weed formed into the letters, ‘Happy birthday POKO.’

She also posted a photograph of herself and added the inscription, ‘Mi smoke ganja mi smoke weed while my hatez smoke ma gossip.’

Her picture is a close-up of her face that seemed to depict her in a high state.
Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, said the matter would be investigated.

He said the matter had been referred to the appropriate department of the agency.

Ofoyeju said, “Our attention has been drawn to the post quite frankly and I can tell you that action will be taken on it. The law is clear and NDLEA has been very clear on the issue. No one is permitted to sell, use, cultivate or encourage the use of Indian hemp in Nigeria. The weed is one of the banned narcotics in the country.

“NDLEA Act Section 14 (b) states that any person who conspires with, aids, abets, counsels, attempts to commit or is an accessory to any act or offence referred to in this act shall be guilty of an offence under this act and liable on conviction to be sentenced to imprisonment for a term not less than 15 years and not exceeding 25 years.

“Investigation has not started as of now but definitely, a step has to be taken on the matter. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse; so, it is obvious that the actress stands the risk of 15 years jail term. The appropriate department is meeting on the issue for necessary action.”

The NDLEA spokesman, however, declined to give any hint on particular steps the agency would take in its investigation, citing reasons bearing on ethics.

Dikeh’s post has expectedly drawn mixed reactions from readers, with many of them voicing concern for the way she is living her life.

UK’s £3,000 visa bond : Federal Government threatened to push same treatment for UK citizens travelling to Nigeria

UK’s £3,000 visa bond : Federal Government threatened to push same treatment for UK citizens travelling to Nigeria

President Jonathan
The Federal Government, yesterday, described as discriminatory and capable of undermining the spirit of the Commonwealth family, the proposed new UK visa policy requesting visitors from Nigeria to post a £3,000 bond before entering the UK.
The Nigerian government has, therefore, asked the British government to reconsider the proposed policy, saying it is incompatible with the strong and cordial relations built over the years between the UK and Nigeria.
The Federal Government also assured its British counterpart that it has a responsibility to take appropriate measures to protect the interest of Nigerians who might be affected by the proposed policy, if finally introduced.
The Senate on its part rejected the policy and threatened to push same treatment for UK citizens travelling to Nigeria if the UK government goes ahead with the visa policy.
The British High Commission in Nigeria has, however, clarified that no final decision has been made on the matter. British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr Andrew Pocok, made the clarification when he honoured the summons on him by Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Olugbenga Ashiru, to express Nigeria’s displeasure over the  proposed visa bond of £3,000 for intending visitors to UK from Nigeria.
At the end the closed door meeting, which lasted for several hours in the ministry, the British envoy clarified that the policy had not reached the stage of implementation.
A statement from the ministry, signed by its spokesman, Ogbole Ode, confirming the meeting, said: “At the meeting which was held at the Tafawa Balewa House, the minister expressed  strong displeasure of the government and people of Nigeria over the policy, which he described as not only discriminatory but also capable of undermining the spirit of the Commonwealth family.

I have 8 to 10 weeks left to get the transplant done" OJB Jezreel says

OJB Jezreel gave an interview to Encomium magazine yesterday Monday June 24th where he said he has about eight weeks left to get his operation done. Excerpts...
"When early diagnosis was done, it was just a case of renal failure. Right now, my two kidneys are gone. We are running dialysis at the moment. It started two years ago, but gradually depreciated. Most people tend to attribute kidney problem to drinking and smoking. I was told it doesn't have anything to do with that, because as much as I drink and smoke then, it was casual drinking. Maybe they offer you a bottle of drink and all that but not like I drink 15 bottles a day. I have a friend who has gone through this and he never drank or smoked.
"The whole process of the treatment from pre-process, transplanting process and post-transplanting will cost about $100, 000. In two years I have spent up to N5million which I have been trying to maintain myself. That is why it has been kept secret."
"God willing, I have like eight to ten weeks more to get the transplant done. It's strange, I still walk around a little. I can't eat much though. I trust God and Nigerians for their financial support"
